The Pros and Cons Of Video Games
Nowadays, the video games industry is developing rapidly. It becomes a multi-billion dollar industry. Video games have become an important part not only in the children’s life but also the adults’. Nevertheless, there is an argument whether video games bring good or bad influences on children.
People who have a pro argument claim that video games give a lot of benefits. Playing video  games is a good way to kill children’ boredom. It can refresh the children’s mind after a tiring school day. Moreover, they also argue that video games can trigger children to be more creative because the games provide  challenging ways to win. In other words, they believe that the video games can actually sharpen a human’s  brain.
Conversely, some people believe that video games make children lazy. They argue that playing video games is addictive. As a consequence, most of the children prefer playing video games to studying. These children find it hard to concentrate on their study because they always think about how to spend more time playing video games. In fact, there are also some children who skip their extracurricular lessons, just because they want to play video games. In addition, most of the video games often expose too much violence. Two years ago in the USA, for example, a student shot his teacher and some of his friends. Newspapers said that the boy was deeply influenced by the actions in the video games.
It is obvious that video games have more disadvantages than advantages. Therefore, parents should be very careful in selecting the appropriate games for their children.

“Cire Perdue” is French words of Lost Wax. It is a process o wax casting used in making metal sculpture.
First, a model is coated with wax. The solidified wax is encased in a two-layer mold o plaster or clay. It is then melted or otherwise removed from the mold, and metal is poured into the space where the wax had been. After cooling, the mold is broken to free the metal object.
This ancient method is used to produce sculpture, jewelry, and utilitarian products such as dentures.

An X-ray is a spectrum of light. When it is radiated through one’s body, it can be used for detecting his/her internal body organs. The X-ray was invented by a German scientist, Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen. Despite the fact that X-rays can detect cancer, cysts, and tumors, there are many conflicting opinions about the use of X-rays in the hospital.
Some people agree that an X-ray examination is beneficial. They argue that doctors should use an X-ray in examining a severe illness. If doctors do not use the X-ray, they could miss some important information which is very useful in making a diagnosis on a patient’s disease. This will sometimes cause a doctor to be inaccurate in prescribing medicine to cure an illness.
Other people, however, disagree with the use of an X-ray examination. They think that using an X-ray examination will cost them a lot of money. That is really true. Another reason is that the radiation of an X-ray has some risks to body tissues.

To Whom it may concern,
“Indonesian Idol” is an annual Indonesian televised singing competition which has been airing on RCTI. Part o the Idol franchise, it originated from the British reality program “Pop Idol”. “Indonesian Idol” is a combination of a reality show and a talent search show. Unfortunately, instead of giving the opportunity to anyone who has talent and capable to be promoted as an idol. I find some weaknesses in this program.
Sometimes, the winner is not guaranteed to have a quality of a good singer because the winner is merely determined by pubic voting by phone and sms. Most of these voters do not consider the jury’s comments on the contestant’s performance because they would prefer focusing on the contestant’s physical appearance and personality rather than his/her singing quality.
As a consequence, after the competition is over, only few of the winners get the chance to be professional singers. Why is it so? Because they don’t have great skills to be professional singers. Furthermore, most of them only have little experience in the show business, while being professional singers need a long process and time.
My suggestion is that “Indonesian Idol” should not determine the winner based on the contestant’s popularity. The singing quality of each contestant should be the first priority.
Yours truly,
Pinky Baboe- Semarang
